Lee’s Summit is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Kansas City area, and you can see it from the roofline. Around historic Downtown Lee’s Summit and Harris Park, older homes sit under tall, established trees. The lake communities of Lakewood, Raintree Lake and Woodland Shores wrap wooded lots around the water, and Longview Lake and Fleming Park add even more canopy on the city’s edges. Across the rest of town, large two-story homes in newer subdivisions carry long gutter runs and steep roof valleys.

Each part of the city stresses gutters differently. The wooded lake neighborhoods deal with heavy leaf fall from October into late November, plus tassels, seed and twigs from spring on. Newer homes have younger trees but taller walls, big roofs that move a lot of water, and fresh shingles that shed grit for the first few years.
